The Koru represents the Lover, as it opens bringing new life and purity to the world, it also represents peace, tranquility, spirituality and new beginnings.

The Koru is often associated to represent the strength and purity of a love relationship or the beginning of a new life, either after the end or the beginning of a relationship, for the Maoris it represented starting anew or a new beginning every day. .

This pendant is carved from a semi-precious pounamu stone popularly known as (Jade).

All pounamu stones originate from riverbeds and boulders on the South Island, mainly the West Coast. The colors and characteristics of each stone vary according to the river of origin.

Found in colors ranging from a cloudy light green to a dark emerald with different markings, pounamu were considered so significant by the Maori that they named the South Island after this – Te-Wai-Pounamu means “the waters of jade”.
